A Place With Glowing Credentials
On their way to Jamestown, where they would build the first permanent English settlement in the New World, Englishmen landed at Cape Henry in 1607 where 26-year-old Master George Percy was moved to write,
The settlers were impressed with the area's natural beauty and observed, "flowers of divers kinds and colors and goodly trees." They also encountered Chesapeake Indians who left them a fire with oysters roasting on it. These oysters were to become our famous Lynnhaven oysters.
Fast forward to today - away from the hustle and bustle of the Oceanfront resort strip - wake up, listen to the waves lap the sand, smell the Bay breezes, and decide what you're going to do today.
Boating on the Lynnhaven River? A public landing is just across the Lesner Bridge. Fishing out in the abundant Bay? Watching birds or dolphins or whales as you stroll along the shore? The possibilities are as endless as the view.
Enjoy swimming, sailing, or jet skiing right off the beach or surf the Atlantic waves just around Cape Henry. Take a walk or a jog down the beach, and connect with the many trails at First Landing State Park filled with Spanish Moss-draped live oaks and cypress swamps. There are also beautiful biking trails there.
Take advantage of the many fantastic eating establishments offering fresh seafood and other specialties within walking distance on Shore Drive; there's good reason it's called ‘Restaurant Row’.
We invite you to see for yourself how exhilarating coastal living at Point Chesapeake On The Bay can be. Even if all you want to do is nap on the beach.
