While construction continues on Point Chesapeake, these luxury waterfront homes are beginning to take shape. During a recent hard-hat tour, we could see what makes these homes so special. Upon entering each model through the foyer, you are greeted with full-on, expansive window views from all major living areas of water, sky and the long stretch of sand with untouched dunes in the foreground. Every home is specifically designed to include a bay view and there are only 8 luxury homes per building, giving residents more privacy. Another plus is that while most condos in this corridor of Shore Drive offer only 2 full baths, the homes at Point Chesapeake have 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths with that extra powder room for guests.

Stylish appointments include:

  • Private, 2-Car, Side-by-Side Garages
  • 3 Bedrooms and 2.5 Baths
  • Spacious Balconies (large enough for patio furniture)
  • Interior, Secured Hallways with Elevators

Put Virginia Beach’s Lighthouses on your Bucket List

old and new cape henry lighthouses in virginia beach

Old and New Cape Henry Lighthouses stand side-by-side in Virginia Beach.

Locals are proud of southeastern Virginia’s rich history including the New and Old Cape Henry Lighthouses located just a few miles from Point Chesapeake on The Bay. In 1792, the Old Cape Henry Lighthouse was the first lighthouse to be commissioned by the U.S. government and stands near the site where the Jamestown Settlers first landed in 1607.  Built to guide maritime commerce at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, the original stone lighthouse was authorized by George Washington and construction was overseen by Alexander Hamilton.  After concerns about the old lighthouse’s stability, a second, steel-structured lighthouse was built in 1881. Maintained and operated by the U.S. Coast Guard, the light in the newer, black and white lighthouse still shines today. It sits at the site of Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.

While the new lighthouse is not open to the public, you can visit and climb the steps to the top of the original stone tower for spectacular views of the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean.

3D Rendering of Point Chesapeake on The Bay’s Clubhouse

Construction has begun at Point Chesapeake on the Bay

The famous seafood restaurant, Duck In, was located on Shore Drive near the Lesner Bridge. A Virginia Beach staple, the restaurant opened in 1952 and closed its doors more than a decade ago.

If you have driven over the Lesner Bridge lately, you have probably noticed a lot of commotion and construction going on. Two residential projects are underway – luxury condominium homes (Point Chesapeake On The Bay) and upscale apartments (Overture).

Point Chesapeake on the Bay is built by The Terry Companies, LLC, a partnership between two local builders, Terry Peterson Residential and Napolitano Homes. Napolitano Homes began building new homes in 1977, and currently builds in Chesapeake, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. Terry-Peterson has been a new home builder in Hampton Roads since 1983, and is currently building in New Kent, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. Both builders are locally based, family-oriented companies with substantial experience and success meeting the needs of Hampton Roads’ home buyers. Their shared abilities to deliver high quality homes with innovative architecture and technology will lead to great success for Point Chesapeake on the Bay.

Point Chesapeake on the Bay is a high-end waterfront condominium community of forty-eight homes, with sales beginning the end of this year. The Terry Companies has chosen to retain the original gazebo on this bay property. Hampton Roads residents and visitors alike are nostalgic about this gazebo and it is important to the builders of this community to hold onto this piece of history.

Across the street (closer to the Bridge), Overture Apartments are being constructed and will be managed by global apartment management company, Greystar. These age-targeted apartments are for adults over 62 and will debut in the Spring of 2017.

The graphic below differentiates the location of the new home community vs. the apartment community, Overture. Overture and Point Chesapeake on the Bay are excited about their neighboring communities and the future of this amazing location in Virginia Beach. Stay tuned for more information!
